Clutchy Hopkins – What is going on?
August 14, 2007Ok so if you’ve been living under a rock for a while you probably have no idea who Clutchy Hopkins is. Wait strike that, no one knows who Clutchy Hopkins is. All I know is that Ubiquity signed the reclusive artist and the name calling hasn’t stopped. Some people claim that Clutchy isn’t Clutchy. They think he is Cut Chemist or Madlib. Some folks even claim that he is Mike D of the Beastie Boys. If some one knows no one is telling. His MySpace page claims
Clutchy Hopkins is a multi-instrumentalist who recorded under various pseudonyms throughout his entire musical career; his recorded output consists of everything from field recordings of his travels to avant compositions, to jazz to funk.

Me? I have my own theories. There are some remixes with MF Doom floating around that reek of Madlib but I can’t confirm it. One thing I do know is that who ever Clutchy is he’s damn funky.

I swear that guy tried to squeegee my car the other day. I just told him to back off. What was I thinking? I should’ve asked for his autograph. Given the speculation about his mental state I’m sure he would’ve scurried away to some far away corner of the earth.
